Ali’i is Hawaiian word meaning, chief, chiefess, officer, ruler, monarch, peer, headman, noble, aristocrat, king, queen, commander; royal, regal, aristocratic, kingly; to rule or act as a chief, govern, reign; to become a chief.

This award recognizes exceptional leadership in advancing our clinical and research goals at Moores Cancer Center and across UC San Diego.

 A big congratulations to Patty Maysent UC San Diego Health CEO, the recipient of the 2021 Ali’i Award.

Patty has truly exemplified the qualities of a strong and wise leader, particularly during a challenging year. Through this award, we are honored to acknowledge the critical role Patty continues to play in ensuring that UC San Diego Health patients receive excellent cancer care, and that our physician-scientists are able to innovate and improve standards of cancer care at the national and global levels.
